Nitzana Educational Community
Nitzana is an Educational Community founded on the values of love for humanity and nature. Here, youth, adults, and families from all walks of Israeli society and the Jewish people live and learn together. Nitzana operates diverse educational programs for young people across the entire spectrum of Israeli society. Living side-by-side, participants are empowered and equipped with the tools to dream and achieve. They are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and experience a profound encounter with fellow human beings, society, and the Land.

What We Do
The Farm Animal Shelter at Nitzana serves as a “school for empathy and acceptance of the other,” providing a warm home and a second chance for rescued farm animals. Through their connection with the animals, youth and visitors experience a profound emotional journey that fosters compassion, tolerance, and responsibility.
A visit to Nitzana offers a chance to disconnect from the daily grind and deeply reconnect with oneself and the environment—an experience that provides a new perspective on where we come from. At “Negev,” we place the “encounter” at the heart of our tours and educational experiences.
This encounter provokes thought regarding the “ecology of the human experience”—exploring our inner worlds alongside the external environment and the diverse people with whom we share this land. It sparks a conversation on the relationships between person and person, and between humanity and nature, wildlife, and the earth. We invite you to join us on a journey of inquiry and human-Negev connection.
Since its founding, Nitzana has championed the “Kibutz Galuyot” (Ingathering of the exiles) as a leading value. We believe that in the 21st century, this value is as vital as it was when our founder, the late Lova Eliav, led immigrant ships to Israel’s shores. The waves of Aliyah from the former Soviet Union played a central role in transforming Israel into the modern, prosperous nation it is today. We believe that the Olim arriving today also hold a key role in shaping the future of our society and state.
The Nitzana branch is the flagship branch of the Derech Eretz network—the place where it all began. The academy operates a six-month program for a heterogeneous group of young Israelis from all parts of society, with a unique focus on underprivileged students. Together, they develop, learn, and strive to create change that contributes to a tolerant and cohesive Israeli society. Their work is rooted in a sense of belonging and mutual responsibility, guided by values of equal opportunity, humanity, social responsibility, and love of the Land.
The first and only Bedouin youth village of its kind in Israel. The village is home to approximately 150 students from across Bedouin society in the Negev. We believe that quality education in an environment that fosters shared living with all parts of Israeli society allows our students to flourish as meaningful leaders in their communities. Our mission is built on the belief that the continued prosperity of the Negev depends on creating a “shared destiny” and the full, authentic integration of Bedouin communities into all areas of life.
Adam V’Adama Nitzana is much more than a high school and boarding school. It is a way of life that integrates education, agriculture, Zionism, and community into a journey of personal growth and social impact. As part of the national Adam V’Adama network, students learn to become individuals who act for something greater than themselves: the future of agriculture in Israel, the strengthening of the Negev, love of the land, and the construction of a value-based, committed society.
Nitzana’s farm is a unique educational space where all life in Nitzana converges. It houses an agricultural school serving students from the Ramat HaNegev and Neve Midbar regional councils—Bedouins and Jews together. It also features a shelter for injured animals, operating with a “mutualistic” approach that provides a healing space for both humans and animals.
On the Nitzana farm, we believe in the power of connection—between person and person, the environment, and animals. It is a unique multicultural meeting point where modern agriculture meets humanistic education. Here, learning goes hand-in-hand with equality, mutual respect, and environmental protection. The farm is more than a workplace; it is a living classroom for social acceptance and our shared responsibility toward nature and one another.
