Educational Agricultural Farm

What We Believe In

At the Nitzana farm, we believe in the importance of building connections between individuals and society, between people and the environment, and between people and animals. The farm serves as a multicultural, educational, and learning hub that promotes equality, acceptance, mutual respect, environmental preservation, and modern agricultural practices. All this in light of the values of humanistic education.

What We Do

Nitzana Farm” is an educational-agricultural farm that includes greenhouse cultivation, vegetable gardens, and more. In addition, we operate a shelter for abandoned or abused livestock – “Nitzana – For the Animals”.

Nitzana Farm was established as part of the “Neve Midbar” School and Community, aiming to support educational and therapeutic activities for its students. Moreover, we serve this same need for other Nitzana programs as well. We demonstrate that it is possible to grow crops even in the heart of the desert. With the help of “Neve Midbar” students, gap year volunteers, “Derech Eretz” pre army program participants  and volunteers from Israel and around the world, we grow a different kinds of produce: seasonal vegetables, cacti, fruit trees, flowers, and more.

In addition to working with all Nitzana programs, we also educate and train students from the Negev region who come for a series of sessions with us. These sessions include agricultural studies, hard work, and values based learning. Most of the students who come to us are from Bedouin schools where they lack access to agricultural learning spaces.

OUR IMPACT

During our work and learning activities on the farm, we engage with complex issues related to education, the future of people in the desert and the world, and strive to inspire small changes that may one day lead to significant changes in the world. The ongoing activities on the farm aim to influence the environment and lifestyle habits, and are reflected in raising awareness of various and new topics among diverse populations, particularly among students from the Bedouin community. We aspire to provide a space for everyone who visits us on the farm, and to open dialogue on topics such as solidarity, work ethics, violence, equality, relationships, and more, hoping to influence each visitor in some small way.
